Film for Polaroid Sun 600 LMS?
I just bought an old Polaroid Sun 600 LMS and i was wondering what kind of film works with it and how much it would cost?
All Polaroid 600 cameras used Polaroid 600 instant film cartridges. Unfortunately, Polaroid stopped making instant film recently (about 2 years ago). It’s getting pretty hard to find original Polaroid film, and it’s very expensive. Also, it will be expired by now. Do a search on Google and you might find some original Polaroid 600 film on Amazon, eBay, etc. But it’s going to be expensive…at least $25 or so.
Up until just a few years ago, you could have walked into pretty much any store and bought Polaroid film. Walmart even had brand new Polaroid 600 cameras as late as 2007 or 2008. But Polaroid film was never “cheap” though, even when you could buy it in a store. Even back in the 90′s, it was about $10 per cartridge, and you only got 10 pictures.
There is another company that has started making instant film that will work with Polaroid 600 cameras though. It’s called “The Impossible Project.” It will work with your camera, but it’s not the same as Polaroid film. At the moment, they’re only making B&W film…and actually it’s not true black and white, it has more of a sepia tint. And it seems like the film is still experimental and has some bugs to work out. But you might want to check it out.
